After living with the Mk8 Golf R for about a year, I found myself equally enamored with its utter dominance of daily driver duties and frustrated at how compromised it felt in quality relative to what it could have been.
An itch began in my brain, contemplating if I’d be happier in a Mk7/7.5, and it continued for many months until I stumbled across this low-mileage, meticulously-cared-for Mk7.5 Golf R on Facebook Marketplace, and the rest is history.
As of July 2026, I’ve had the car for a few weeks and absolutely fallen in love with it. The prior owners maintained the vehicle to an obsessive degree, and its been like experiencing a brand new version of an 8 year old car!
The stage 1 performance modifications mean the car makes more power and feels faster than my stock Mk8, and the interior refinement and quality is so much nicer to live with day-to-day.
It was an unconventional road to get to the Mk7.5 Golf R, but I’m enjoying every minute of it!
